AUSTRALIAN TRIPLE CROWN 2007
Australian Matchplay Championship.

The Australian Matchplay Championship will be played over three days at the Terrey Hills course in Sydney.
Players will be placed in pools and on the first two days will play a total of 4 matches against opponents in their pool.
The Top 4 players from each pool will then advance to the Championship playoffs, starting on Friday afternoon.
Players in position 5-8 in their pools will advance to the B division Championship playoffs.

To enable pool positions to be more accurately and fairly determined, APPA is using a modified scoring system.

Australian Matchplay Championship Scoring System.

1. The result of all holes played must be recorded by your opponent on the scorecard provided.
2. The match result is recorded as the total number of holes won by each player, i.e if player A wins 6 holes and player B wins 2, the result is 6-2. If both players win 3 holes, the result is 3-3.
3. All holes in Pool matches count. Players receive 2 points for winning a match, 1 if they draw their match and zero if they lose. As players are likely to be tied on matches won at the end of the Pool rounds, positions will then be decided by the winning holes differential.

Example.
Player A wins three of his Pool matches, 6-3, 12-0, 3-0 and loses a match 4-7.
He has 6 pts and his win/loss holes differential is 25 -10, or 15 holes.
Player B also wins three of his Pool matches but after leading 10-0 in his 2nd game decides to walk off, thereby conceding some holes to his opponent. He wins 6-3, 10-8, 3-0 and loses 4-7. He also has 6 pts but his win/loss differential is 23 – 18, or 5 holes.
Because of the higher win/loss differential, Player A then is placed higher in the Pool than Player B.

This scoring system will be used for the Test match, and all matches in the Australian Matchplay Championship.
